Our Vision

The vision of GOD IN SHOES Inc. will be to develop a collaborative partnership with the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs to aid us in the design and development of specifically designed services and programs that will provide comprehensive, high quality healthcare services on a cost-effective basis to eligible Veterans who reside in the Broward County area. Our mission is to offer Outreach programs to those in need of assisted living, or full-service, long-term residential care. We will be there for those that need a “hand up, as well as those who need a “hand out”.

Our Mission for Veterans

Our goals are to provide housing and skill training so our veterans become empowered to become independent citizens of their community.
While we will offer Restoration to our Veterans we will focus on restoring their physical and mental health, as we see “the soul as an integral part of the whole person”. Often times when crises arise the support system that is much need is missing and they can’t seem to solve their problems on their own and that often leads to a downward spiral!

Among the many challenges our combat veterans face is a growing problem of current homelessness, or the threat of becoming homeless. We will combine our efforts and collaborate with the Veterans Administration and other community organizations in an effort to provide affordable housing.
The vision of this Humanitarian Project is to create a service system where there is “no wrong door” when it comes to veterans seeking services to prevent or escape from being “homeless”. Our supportive services will encompass all Veterans to include low and often no income veterans, and their families. We will include a national referral center to link them with local service providers, as well as expanded efforts for education, jobs, health care and housing. Our focus will be to assist them as they transition themselves into mainstream society.

There are too many Homeless Veterans Among Us

In today’s world “homelessness” has become the norm. No matter how loud they cry out for help, it seems to fall on “deaf ears”. This is not a state or citywide problem, this is a global issue that people sit on their living room sofas and talk about constantly, however no one seems to care enough to” roll up their sleeves” and physically do anything about it. Here we are a society of “Abundance” we throw away enough food to feed the entire world, yet we can’t seem to house our own!!! What a pity”.The number of Veterans, seniors, women and children among the homeless is increasing at an alarming rate. Homelessness is not a myth, it is a reality in urban, suburban, and rural communities worldwide. Millions of people exist on the precarious edge homelessness. In fact statistics states that a mere $300 separates individuals from becoming homeless, or keeping a roof over their heads. Without major changes in our society, homelessness will be more pervasive today then before in our lifetime.

Our 5 Year goals and objectives are;

1. Reduce Veteran homelessness.2. Decrease Veteran unemployment.3. Decrease the number of Veterans who get accepted to Colleges and Universities.4. Increase computer literacy of our Senior Veterans.5. Decrease the dependency some Veterans have on prescription drugs, illicit drugs and alcohol through counseling and education.6. Provide an Assisted Living facility to house up to 250 units. 7. Our objectives is to open an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) within the targeted area of Broward County by networking and forming alliances and partnerships with the State of Florida Department of Veterans 8. Affairs, local Churches, Veterans clinics, and we search out as many marketing tools such as advertising on the radio and Television, brochures and flyers, and we will use social networking as a means of communication and reaching as many Veterans as possible that may be in need of our services. Our Associated Living Facilities (ALF) will be based on several principles to insure comfort and security of our residents. Our most important principle will be integrity, spiritualism and professionalism, and therefore our core values rests on respect, compassion and commitment.

The GOD IN SHOES program will provide classes for our Veterans that include on parenting skills, adult living. Budgeting finances, nutrition, physical and mental health, education, conflict and resolution, decision making, interpersonal relationships, and last but certainly not least their spiritual well-being.
